Kyū from the Asatsuyu shrub variety: a masterpiece of Japanese tea art
Experience the unique fascination of Kyū - an exceptional tea made from 100% leaves of the noble shrub variety Asatsuyu. These leaves are carefully shaded to achieve a flavor profile that enchants connoisseurs with its remarkable sweetness. The delicate sweetness is already noticeable in the fragrance of the tea and fully unfolds in the taste.
Known in Japanese as "Tennen Gyokuro", translated as "natural Gyokuro", the Asatsuyu shrub variety is at the center of a fascinating creation process. The organic cultivation of these shrubs is demanding: The delicate sweetness of the young leaves attracts numerous insects, so a great deal of experience and patience is required to cultivate a harmonious ecological balance. This is the only way to create a tea of such exquisite character as Kyū.
The name "Kyū" means "to draw", in the sense of drawing water, which is necessary for making tea. In its double form, "kyū kyū", the name symbolizes complete dedication to a single thing. This dedication reflects the many years of experience and passion of Mankichi and Keita Watanabe, who consciously work towards producing a tea of exceptional quality.
The Kyū comes in a pack of 50 grams, ideal for those who want to get to know the distinctive character of Asatsuyu.
