The idyllic tea gardens of the Morimoto family, directly adjacent to the family home, are characterized by the family's cultivated plant experience. Here, on carefully selected plots of land, mainly the shrub varieties "Oku Midori" and "Oku Yutaka" thrive, which form the flavor basis for the exquisite Morimoto Sencha Oku Midori.
The leaves are harvested in May and again in August and then processed directly in the family's own processing facilities. This dedication to precision craftsmanship is reflected in the texture and aroma of the tea. The artistically steamed leaves (asamushi) reveal a clear, seductive infusion. Even at higher temperatures, a harmoniously rounded taste profile unfolds.
The majority of the leaves come from unshaded cultivation (Roji Saibai), which gives the tea its characteristic freshness. The addition of shaded leaves gives it a sweet note that both beginners and experienced tea lovers will appreciate. After the second harvest, the Morimotos practice the complete pruning of their tea bushes, which further enhances the quality and balance of the subsequent summer harvests and results in pleasantly mild yet expressive green teas.
