An incomparable matcha experience
The Takeno Jôô Uji Matcha is a masterpiece of Japanese tea art, offered in outstanding quality and strictly limited quantities. This matcha, named after the famous tea master Takeno Jôô, is considered the finest matcha in Japan. Produced in Uji, a place with a legendary reputation as the birthplace of "true tea", this matcha is cultivated without the use of agricultural chemicals. The elaborate hand-picking of the leaves and traditional processing by the Nakanishi family ensure that this tea meets the highest standards.
We produce less than 1.5 kilograms of this excellent tea specialty every year. Thanks to long-standing relationships, we have managed to reserve some of these few tins. Each tin of this exceptional Uji Matcha reflects the pursuit of simplicity and authenticity that characterized Takeno Jôô in the Japanese tea ceremony.
The garden of perfection
Takeno Jôô Uji Matcha comes from a carefully tended tea garden in Uji Prefecture, which has been managed with attention to detail by the Nakanishi family since 1980. The tea bushes are kept under black nets, which promote the growth of the delicate leaves. The entire harvest is carried out by a trained team of around 30 helpers, with every step of the processing done by hand.
A taste that enchants
The Takeno Jôô Uji Matcha is characterized by its bright green color and its soft fruity taste. It delivers a fascinatingly creamy and almost sweet aroma on the palate, without any bitterness. A real treat for connoisseurs and lovers of green tea.
